Week-long fete of libraries concludes
The 50th International week-long celebrations which were organised under the Department of District Libraries have been concluded on a grand note here in Khammam on Monday.
Khammam: The 50th International week-long celebrations which were organised under the Department of District Libraries have been concluded on a grand note here in Khammam on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the District Library Department Ajeez-ul-haq said to mark the week-long celebrations of libraries, several programmes were conducted across the district for students besides book expos and Kavi Sammelanams.
“The students and people from various walks of life participated in the celebrations and made them a grand success,” he added.
Attending as a chief guest to the valedictory ceremony, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana said libraries were the storage houses of knowledge and government was determined for developing them. “Under constituency development fund, Rs 5 lakh will be allotted for the development of libraries of the district,” he assured.
Later, prizes are handed over to the students who won different competitions conducted on the occasion. City Mayor Dr Papa Lal and Secretary of the Library department Ravi Kumar were present along with others.
