Free health camp for KGBV girls held

Mahbubnagar: With an aim to provide health services to girl students competing in sports, the district Youth and Sports department in partnership with Sushruta Hospital in Mahbubnagar conducted a free health camp at Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya (KGBV) Sports Academy in Nawabpet mandal on Thursday.

As part of the camp, all the students from five KGBVS in Mahbubnagar availed the services, where medical staff from Sushruta Hospital lead by Dr Pratibha conducted health checkups to all the girls and also created awareness about self and menstrual hygiene besides giving precautionary tips and necessary steps to be taken by the girls who are taking part in sports competitions.

“Usually, girls who are taking part in the sports and other athletic competition may face various health issues that may lower their confidence level. However, if certain precautionary measures are taken, they can be easily overcome,” said Dr Pratibha, a senior Gynaecologist from Sushruta Hospital.

In addition to conducting medical tests, the district sports officials along with the healthcare experts also took part in a health awareness seminar, where in they discussed and deliberated on various healthcare issues and problems that the girl children face and also gave them tips to overcome them.
