Khammam: Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal stated that there was a need to keep check on crime for maintaining law and order and peace in the town and its outskirts. The Commissioner inaugurated a TV which was linked to 32 CCTV cameras installed at various locations under Khammam Rural Police Station here in Khammam on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Tafseer Iqbal said he was happy to see people coming forward and donating money for the installation of CCTV cameras, equipped with modern technology, in their colonies. “To transform Khammam Commissionerate as a model one, new and advanced technology will be introduced under the Commissionerate limits akin to Hyderabad,” he informed. He further added that good results were seen in the colonies where the CCTV cameras were installed already.

“Everyone living in the society must think that it is their responsibility to install CCTV cameras in their colonies for establishing safe society,” suggested the Commissioner. Additional DCP K Suresh Kumar, speaking on the occasion, said one CCTV camera was equal to 100 constables. The CCTV cameras which will work 24x7 hours will give full security, he added.

Educational institutions, apartments, shopping malls, cinema halls, private hospitals, business centres and community houses must install CCTV cameras for security purpose, suggested the DCP. Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal handed over the mementos to donors of CCTV cameras belonging to Granite Association, China Factory and Cable Operator Association. Rural Assistant Commissioner of Police Naresh Reddy, Circle Inspector Thirupathi Reddy, Assistant Sub-inspector of Police Chiranjeevi and local public representatives, MPP and ZPTC were present along with others.
