Gadwal: District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini had embarked on an awareness campaign on de-worming as part of National De-worming Day programme (NDD) in Gadwal district to be launched on Friday. In order spread awareness the collector flagged off a rally from Krishnaveni junction, where in Auxiliary Nurse Midwiferys (ANMs), Asha workers, Anganwadi teachers, Ayaas and school students took part in large numbers and spread awareness on the ring worm eradication programme in the district.

The collector said to eradicate ring worm among the children in the age group 6-19 years people must take responsibility and bring their children to the nearest Anganwadi centre and administer the medicines and tablets given by the ANMs and Asha workers.

“Protecting the health of our children is our responsibility and every parent must deliver their responsibility and make the children free from ring worm related diseases. For children below 5 years will get medicine administer at the Anganwadi centres, and those children about 6-19 will be given medicine in their respective schools. The medicines for de-worming will be given free of cost by the government and every child should ensure they are administered with medicine and get rid of ringworm menace,” collector said.

Allaying the doubts and misconceptions by some people that the tablets and medicine supplied by the government is substandard and may cause adverse reactions, the collector assured the medicine supplied to eradicate ring worm is safe and has no side effects. Children who are suffering from anaemia, lack of apatite, weakness, loss of water and weight loss, and all these symptoms are related to suffering from ring worm related disease. It is very common among the children in the age group between 0-19 and all them must get administered with the de-worming medication, collector said.
