Mahbubnagar: As announced a few days ago, the process of devising a new sports policy for Mahbubnagar district has already been launched. As part of this, District Collector Ronald Rose has given a green signal for initiating ‘Mahbubnagar Sports Scheme’, which is aimed at giving the much-needed impetus to the dying sports in the district.
While informing about the action plan being in the way of drafting to soon launch ‘Mahbubnagar Sports Scheme’, District Youth and Sports Welfare officer Satya Vaani said, “We are going to soon launch the Mahbubnagar Sports Scheme, a unique initiative to support the sports talent in the rural areas. For this, we have estimated that it would require at least Rs 6.6 lakh per annum to pay the coaches and provide various facilities for improving sports and encourage more talented youth towards sports.”
In fact, the role of District Collector in initiating a new sports policy for the district is significant. Earlier, only the students of KGBV residential schools were encouraged with this kind of exclusive sporting policy. However, now the District Collector wanted it to expand further and cover all the youth across the district and attract and train more and more talented youth in sports, athletics and various other sporting activities.
As part of the new scheme, it is expected that talented persons will be identified and accordingly, they would be given financial aid and trained by professionals to further improve their skills and push them for State, national and international competitions.
