Abandoned child reunited with parents
Despite the State government giving priority for the well-being of girl child, some parents are still not welcoming the girl child into their families. An incident at Mallepally village in the district showed that some parents even abandoning the girl children in hospitals immediately after their birth.

According to the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) CDPO Sakkubai, Saidamma, residents of Mallepally, On March 26 Sidemma gave birth to a baby girl. As she has three daughters already, she gave away the newborn to her relatives.
On knowing this, the ICDS officials counselled Saidamma and her husbands Bhgavanthu and reunited the child with her parents. ICDS supervisor Radha, Anganwadi teachers Shobha, Ma+ry and others were among those who counselled the couple.
