Khammam: District unit president of the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) K Narasimha Rao here on Tuesday appealed to the members of Staff and Workers Federation of Road Transport Corporation (SWF-RTC) to participate in in RTC strike and make it a grand success.

The SWF-RTC under the leadership of Gundu Madhava Rao organised a general body meeting Manchikanti Bhavan here. Speaking at the meeting, Narasimha Rao said the strike called by the RTC employees was the latest in the list of agitations staged by bank and postal employees, besides railway staff and farmers.

He warned that the CITU would launch a massive agitation if the government and the RTC management tried to sabotage the strike by the employees. Region Secretary of the SWF Gaddam Lingamurthy said all the workers in the RTC came under a single banner and called for strike.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who appreciated the role played by RTC workers during Sakala Janula Samme, was now neglecting the RTC workers and never took any steps for promoting the RTC, he said. He demanded that the government resolve various issues pertaining to the RTC workers.

Depot Secretary P Sudhakar, Zonal leaders G Prabhakar, S K Parveen, M Ravindranath, T Babu, R Rama Rao, S Ramullu, G Roshaiah, Mallikamba, K Vidyasagar, D Ramesh and Kamalakar were present at the programme.
