Pinapaka (Kothagudem): Before the formation of the Telangana State, the resident of the tribal villages like other people had a dream of better life. They were of the of the view that when the State would be carved out of Andhra Pradesh, their villages and hamlets would be developed and they would have better facilities.

So these poor people also joined the separate state movement. And finally, the Telangana state was formed and a party that spearheaded the separate state movement came to power. However, this new state did not bring any change in their villages or their lives as they are still facing the same problems.

The new state failed to solve their basic problems like roads, drinking water and health etc. They still travel the same uncarpeted roads and drink the same unpotable water and wriggle with health issues in their villages.

The same story is of the people living in the villages of Pinaka mandal which is entirely located in a forest area. It is a new mandal carved out by the government at the time of the formation of Kothagudem district. The people of the mandal said no development works had taken place since the formation of the new the state or district.

Their biggest problem is the roads. Due to lack of roads, the transport system is badly affected in the mandal. The roads connecting villages Mukunda Puram, Singa Reddypally, Venkat Rao Pet, Janam Pet Road and Bhupathy Rao Pet roads are completely damaged.

Travelling on these roads is very difficult and the problem becomes severe when it rains. A little rain is enough to damage the entire road and it will become impossible to negotiate these stretches when it rains heavily. B. Ramulu, a villager said, the Mandal of Pinapaka is very far from the district headquarters. In the new district headquarters, no officer is taking care of the mandal.

Neither any development works are being done in the mandal, he added. “In fact, every system in the mandal from education, roads to health in a bad shape,” he said. He appealed to the government to construct the roads connecting villages immediately.
