cpmVijayawada: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) city Secretary Ch Babu Rao here on Monday criticised the State Government for issuing the electricity bills with revised power tariff. Speaking to media persons here, Babu Rao said even though Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy announced that there would be no hike in power charges for those consumers whose consumption is up to 200 units per month, the officials were issuing the power bills with revised tariff. He showed the electricity bills with the revised tariff and presented the victims of electricity tariff hike before the media. He said that the Government was not implementing its promise and was trying to divert the issue. He wondered that only the government in the country had mounted Rs 32,000 crore on electricity charges. He said that the government had no right to rule the State. He lamented that the people were facing many hardships to pay electricity charges while the Government was paying thousands of crore to private power generation companies like Reliance and Lanco. He urged the people to extend their support to the proposed State bandh on April 9 and take part in large numbers. CPM leaders Donepudi Kasinath and Rama Raju were also present.
