sadasuVijayawada: The Minister for Secondary Education, K P Saradhi, here on Monday, asked the officials to ensure that the farmers received the highest benefit during the Rythu Chaitanya Yatralu which are scheduled to be held from April 22 to May 8. The Minister launched the campaign vehicle here at the Swarajya Maidan. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saradhi said that the government was giving highest priority for the farming community and had given special allocations for them in the last budget. The present chaitanya yatra was aimed at helping the farmers. He asked the officials to create awareness among the farmers on the use of technology in agriculture. He said that the government was providing free power to the farmers who were irrigating their lands on bore-wells and ground wells. He said that the government had taken up the Jalayagnam and took up irrigation projects on Krishna, Godavari, Penna and Gundlakamma rivers at a cost of Rs 1.80 crore and brought 23 lakh acres under cultivation. He said that the government had launched crop insurance scheme with village as unit to help the farmers. He said that the government had disbursed Rs 4,650 crore to the farmers through crop insurance scheme. The Minister said that the government had already directed the officials of all departments concerned to participate in the chaitanya sadassulu to be held in every village till May 8. District Joint Collector P Usha Kumari, Additional Joint Collector N Ramesh Kumar, Sub-Collector D Harichandana, legislators Malladi Vishnu and Vellampalli Srinivas, agriculture in-charge Joint Director N Ch Balu Nayak and other officials were present.
