Gudivada (Krishna): Birthday of noted actor and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nandamuri Balakrishna was celebrated with much fanfare in Gudivada town of Krishna district on Monday. A huge bike rally was taken out from Komaravolu to Nehru Chowk where Telugu Mahila leader Boddu Sivasri cut the birthday cake. Gudivada constituency party in-charge Raavi Venkateswara Rao, who led the rally, addressed the gathering. Raavi said Gudivada was the citadel of TDP and local people always backed the party. Indirectly referring to disqualified local MLA Kodali Nani of YSR Congress Party, he said that people of the constituency would teach a fitting lesson to politicians who betrayed the TDP after election to Assembly. Overwhelmed by the huge presence of Balayya fans, he called upon them to show similar enthusiasm in leading the party to victory in the next elections. TDP State secretary Lanka Dasari Prasada Rao, Telugu Rytu district president Chalasani Anjaneyulu and others were present. Fruits distributed Youth belonging to Telugu Sainyam celebrated Balayya's birthday by distributing fruits and nutritious food to the inmates of Mamata Home for the Aged on Bypass Road here. Earlier, they helped the aged to cut the birthday cake. Telugu Sainyam convenor Kadiyala Ganesh termed Balayya as a devoted actor as he never poked into politics even when his father NT Rama Rao was Chief Minister of the State. Balayya was fighting for the party as an ordinary soldier without expecting political posts. His charitable nature was evident from the services of Basavatarakam cancer hospital headed by him. He was a model to emulate for many who were trying to cash in on the reputation of their father, he said.
