Gudivada (Krishna): CPI district secretary Akkineni Vanaja has called upon people to fight a united battle against the ruling government for its inept administration. The Praja Jatha conducted by the CPI for addressing problems of people has reached Gudivada on Tuesday. The Gudivada CPI leaders welcomed Praja Jatha at the local municipal office. Speaking at the meeting, Akkineni Vanaja has asked the people to join and strengthen the Jatha that started on March 25 and would continue till March 31 across the district. The CPI was conducting the yatra against the government as it turned a blind eye towards resolving people's problems, she said. The unscheduled power cuts and power tariff hike were only making the common man's life miserable, she said. Due to its inept handling of administration, the people are unable to even pay electricity bills, she said.The prices of essential commodities were sky rocketing, she said. The UPA Government was favouring corporate companies by dismantling public sector units, which in turn was resulting in concentration of money in a fewer and fewer hands, she said. She also said that the negligent attitude towards the protests being carried out the Left parties against power tariff hike reflects lack of government concern for poor people. Later, Praja Natya Mandali troupe presentation of songs reflecting the present working of State Government caught people's attention. Nandivada mandal party secretary Gummadi Prakash Rao, CPI leaders Baburao, Rama Rao, Giri among others participated in the meeting. Relay hunger strike begins A relay hunger strike was launched by the Gudivada Left parties at the local municipal office, extending support to the indefinite hunger strike being conducted against power tariff hike by Left parties in Hyderabad.Gudivada area secretary Gudapati Suvishveswara Rao, CITU division secretary K Subbarao and farmer union leaders among others participated in the relay hunger strike.
