Vijayawada: The ongoing indefinite agitation of the government employees against bifurcation of State has put the engineering aspirants in confusion as many of them have to obtain income/caste certificates from the revenue offices through Mee Seva centres.
The strike called by the APNGOs is affecting activity in every sector. Especially, the students who are to attend engineering counselling for this academic year (2013-14) from August 19 would be the worst hit.The Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association is participating in the strike, which resulted in the closure of the revenue offices and also Mee Seva centres. In all, around 2500 revenue employees across 50 mandals in the district have boycotted duties. From Village Revenue Assistants (VRA) to Tahsildars, everybody is on strike in support of the cause.
As the date for counselling is fast approaching, the students who need the certificates of caste, residence, income and others are in a fix. As many as 40 Mee Seva centres in the city are closed. Vanga Mani, parent of an aspirant, was bewildered at the bandh as they are in need of the income certificate essential for claim to fee reimbursement.Out of 23,000 aspirants, around 80 per cent of them avail fees reimbursements and reservation based on caste and income certificates.
