Retina-2013 inaugurated in city

Vijayawada: Aravinda Retina Vitreous Institute (ARVI) Vijayawada, in association with Cipla India, has organised a national seminar titled ‘Retina-2013’ here on Sunday. Dr Lalith Varma, secretary, AIOF inaugurated the seminar by lightening the lamp.

ARVI medical director Dr V Sambasiva Rao, while welcoming the guests, underlined the role of ophthalmologists in the society.

Advancement of technology has shown better ways to treat various eye disorders.

Still, retina treatment and surgeries are getting complicated. The seminar was first of its kind in coastal Andhra Pradesh to discuss retina problems, he said. Dr P Rajavardhan Azad’s gold medal oration on ‘What next in AMD therapy’ got maximum appreciation. Chief medical officer of ARVI Dr G V Narendhra, senior most ophthalmologists Dr Taraprasad, Dr Kim, Dr Mallika Goel, Dr Lalith Varma, secretary, AIOF, Dr Rajavardhan Azad and others submitted their presentation on successful retina surgeries in the seminar. As many as 300 ophthalmologists from coastal Andhra Pradesh attended the seminar.
