Vijayawada: Renowned writer, novelist and Jnanpeeth Award winner Ravuri Bharadwaja was felicitated in the city on Tuesday on the eve of Sree Virat Viswakarma Jayanti mahotsavam organised by the Vijayawada Viswabrahmana Sangham at Thummalapalli Kalakshetram.
Addressing the huge gathering, Bharadwaja said that poverty, embarrassment and hunger have taught him the real lessons of life that enabled him to study the world and put out such master pieces of literature. He said that he was nothing without the support of his friends who lent him money to rent books in library, which laid the foundation to his writing skills. “My relation with the city is a very special one. Many people who played a prominent role in my life have hailed from this place, which is why I share a good part of it,” said Bharadwaja.
President of the Viswabrahmana Sangham Juvvadi Kurmacharyulu appreciated Bharadwaja for his excellence in the literary field and said that it was an honour to felicitate him in the city on the eve of Viswakarma Jayanti utsavam. The organising committee members have felicitated Ravuri Bharadwaja and five others for their contribution and excellence in Manu Brahma (dye workers of Goddess idols), Maya Brahma (carpenter), Twashta Brahma (bronze workers), Silpi Brahma (Stone carvers) and Viswagna Brahma (Goldsmith) of their community.
The local MLA Malladi Vishnu, MLC Ilapuram Venkiah, TD former MP Gadde Rammohana Rao, Central Assembly constituency in-charge of TD Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, West constituency in-charge Buddha Venkannah, TD city president K Nagul Meera, CPM city secretary Ch Babu Rao and other members of the organising committee were present at the event.
