Kalajathas to extensively take the idea of the sub plan to all the dalitwadas Kurnool: People belonging to scheduled castes and tribes were being exploited from ages and the SC, ST sub plan would help them to come up in life, said Minister for Minor Irrigation TG Venkatesh while inaugurating the Indiramma Kalajatha jointly organised by the departments of Social Welfare and Girijan Welfare here on Monday. The minister said that these deprived sections were not enjoying the political and social rights enshrined in the Constitution and the sub plan would help them to enjoy their rights in the society. He said that the Kalajathas would extensively take the ideals of the sub plan to all the dalitwadas in the State to enlighten the downtrodden about their rights and make them demand their rights. District Collector C Sudarsan Reddy said that the officials would make sure that the sub plan funds were spent for the welfare of the SCs and STs. "Basic infrastructure, pensions, housing, drinking water, roads and other problems would be identified through a core committee and submit the same to the government," he said. After funds were sanctioned to solve the problems, the same would be spent in the dalitwadas, he added. He said that the jathas would tour all over the State to highlight the importance of the sub plan to the dalits. Later the playlet presented by the kalatha on 'modern mandulodu', enthralled the audience. Deputy Director of Social Welfare department Sarayya, municipal commissioner Murthy, former mayor Bangi Anantayya, former corporators, SHG women andothers were present in the programme.
