An Infosys employee and his sister-in-law lost their lives in a road mishap in the early hours of Monday.
The mishap occurred on the National Highway-65 near Kodad when the cab they were traveling in, hit a truck from the rear. Unfortunately, the family suffered a double tragedy as the deceased was traveling from Hyderabad to West Godavari district to attend the last rites of his mother.
The victims were identified as Arumilli Veera Venkata Satyanarayana and his wife's sister Gullapalli Venkata Madhuri.
While the locals alleged that the lorry driver had stationed the vehicle negligently on the road without any hazard warning, the police suspect that the accident may have taken place as the cab driver dozed off on the wheel while driving at high speed.
Satyanarayana's wife Venkata Sowjanya, who is pregnant, and cab driver K Rajesh escaped with minor injuries. A case was registered in this regard.
Satyanarayana's mother died of cardiac arrest around 12.15 am on Sunday. Upon coming to know this, they stetted from RTC Crossroads by booking a cab. However, the cab hit a lorry around 4.30 am on Monday near Komarabanda Crossroads.
Satyanarayana got hit to the windshield suffering a serious injury on the face and head. Satyanarayana and his sister-in-law Venkata Madhuri died on the spot while his wife Venkata Sowjanya survived the accident with minor injuries.
