NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Monday asked BJP and its supporters to make use of the last full session before Lok Sabha polls next year, saying their focus should be on making it beneficial for the government, country and people.
As per a meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance a day ahead of Parliament’s winter session, parliamentary affairs minister Narendra Singh Tomar told reporters that support leaders stressed on the need to make the session effective and push the government’s legislative agenda.“The Prime Minister said this session will continue into 2019.
In a way, this is the last session of our (government) five-year term and so this should be used to make it beneficial for the government, country and people,” Tomar said and added that the NDA wanted to involve with the opposition to make sure that the session was advanced.
Asked about Shiv Sena’s demand that the government bring a law for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said it was not discussed in the meeting but added that it was the sentiment of millions of people in the country.
Junior parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Goel told media that NDA partners decided to stand with government decisions and expected support of all parties to make maximum use of the session. He, however, said there was no specific affirmation on any subject although the government has agreed to consider debate on all issues brought by opposition parties.
