Devotees thronged to all the Shiva temples across Telangana by chanting the name of Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. The temples witnessed a huge crowd from the early hours on Monday to perform the abhishekam.

On the other hand, the temples in the state were remained open since 12.30 am for the devotees to get a glimpse of the diety on the festival day. Famous Shiva temples in and around Hyderabad such as Keesara, Chaya Someshwara temple in Nalgonda and more echoed with the chanting of mantras.

Governor ESL Narasimhan and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao greeted the people on Mahashivaratri.
