Strength and weakness of the party A to be assessed Telangana issue is likely to figure prominently at the meeting the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi proposes to have with the Members of Parliament from the state on Thursday. rahulThis will be the first ever meeting the state MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would be having with the party vice president after Rahul took charge in January. Rahul Gandhi will meet the MPs for about two hours. The meeting, it is said will focus on the strength and weakness of the party as well as the MPs in their respective constituencies. It may be recalled that Rahul had sent his emissaries Jitender Singh Prabhudas, Viswajith P Rane and Amar Kale to visit the three regions from the state to gather opinions of the party leaders at the grass-root level. The meeting will discuss about the prospects of the Congress party in each district and where the YSR Congress party and Telugu Desam stand. Rahul will also try to figure out if the Congress party would get absolute majority in the assembly elections or will have to form an alliance with any other party after the elections and if so who could be the likely partner or partners, sources say. Rahul Gandhi is also said to have armed himself with a list of the MPs who are likely to switch over to YSRCP based on the report given by his emissaries. The issue of the fight for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat between T Subbirami Reddy and union minister of state D Purandeshwari is also likely to figure at the meeting. On the other hand, the Telangana MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, S Rajaiah, Manda Jagannatham and G Vivekananda said that they would reiterate their demand asking the party to fulfill its electoral promise to bifurcate the state immediately.
