Till about less than a decade ago, Parliamentary proceedings were such a bore to watch. I would often wonder how my uncle could sit an entire day watching such stuff on TV.

Years have passed and I do the same now. But the only difference is there's nothing much happening during these sessions. So what if the House is adjourned several times without transacting any business, there's so much fun to look forward to. Not to forget the shameful acts of the politicians too.

Consider these recent episodes...

Case 1: Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and TDP MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy bring pepper spray and knife into the Parliament.
Case 2: Rajya Sabha secretary general Shumsher K Sheriff is heckled by CM Ramesh.
Case 3: PDP MLA Syed Bashir Ahmad slaps Marshal in J&K Assembly.
Case 4: Rashtriya Lok Dal MLAs take off their shirts in UP Assembly to protest against Akhilesh Yadav.
These are only the recent and perhaps the worst incidents. Earlier, the House has also been witness to Parliamentarians throwing chairs at each other, snatching the mic away from the Speaker, throwing torn papers in the air etc. Are these people's representatives and what kind of examples are they setting for the future generation?
But I guess they are not to be blamed. We must blame the people who chose them. Now, such repeatedly unruly scenes in the House only raises one question - the quality of people who enter the House.
Are these Parliamentarians or Hooligans?
India boasts itself of rich culture, but what's the 'sanskar' we are displaying to the outside world?
It's so apt to call it the House of Shame where the so-called 'leaders' of our country misbehave without any guilt of bringing disrepute to the nation's image.
Besides, the members are so oblivious to the fact that they are being watched by the entire nation and later repeatedly by TV channels who air the episode putting the spotlight on the 'hero' of the day!
What they don't realise is that whatever be their cause for protest, their acts are being seen as that of clowns.
But, the worst hit are the citizens of this country who are forced to bow their heads in shame for electing such leaders!
