Talking to reporters after his meeting with Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Venkaiah said the Centre and the State governments should work in tandem to ensure development.

He said he had explained the current status of development works to both the Chief Ministers. “Development was paralysed in united Andhra Pradesh because of the political turmoil. We have to now put things back on track. I have asked both the Chief Ministers to set politics aside and work in tandem for development,” he said.

Earlier, during the meeting at Lake View Guest House, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu requested Venkaiah to expedite the process of granting special category State status. He also wanted the Centre to take quick decisions on release of funds to the State and the projects with Centre’s assistance.

KCR during the 45-minute meeting with Venkaiah proposed that the State and Centre could jointly launch a single housing scheme for the poor. He brought to the notice of the Union Minister that the benefits of the housing scheme launched by State and Centre separately were not reaching the real beneficiaries because of the duplication of the scheme at the ground level.

In some cases, he pointed out that, the schemes were also being misused. KCR also urged Venkaiah to hold meetings with the CMs of all southern States so that inter-State issues could be resolved.
