Aibaug: That the minority government headed by Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra is on a sticky wicket and that it can’t count on the reliable support of the Nationalist Congress Party was made clear by none other than its supremo Sharad Pawar.

Addressing a meeting of party workers here, Pawar asked them to be ready for another election. "We have to be ready to face snap polls in Maharashtra," he said addressing a two-day party meeting which began here.

"Having a stable government in Maharashtra isn't the NCP's responsibility," said Pawar. He said the NCP was neutral during the trust vote which was won last week by the Chief Minister and his party, the BJP. "We did not vote for or against the government," said Pawar, who was a union minister in the government that was demolished by the BJP in May. He has a reputation for being an unreliable partner and his announcement on Tuesday would bolster that perception.
