Guwahati: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to Assam, a powerful explosion rocked Upper Assam on Sunday evening, resulting one person was killed and 20 others injured.

According to reports, at least one person was killed and 20 others were injured in a powerful explosion in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The explosion took place at busy Rajgarh area in Dibrugarh town.

“Suspected militants had triggered the explosion,” a top police official said.

“The bomb was planted by suspected militants near a truck,” the official said.

The injured persons had rushed to Assam Medical College hospital.

Top police and army officials had rushed to the area and launched operation to nab the suspected militants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit to Assam on November 29 and he will inaugurate the DGP-IGP conference in Guwahati.
