Jaipur: Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari is meeting Rajastahn Chief Minister Vasundhare Raje here on Monday morning.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of Raje being caught in the middle of a controversy involving former IPL czar Lalit Modi.
According to television reports, Gadkari is likely to convey to Raje to lie low and not interact much with the media with regard to her helping Lalit Modi to reach Portugal to deal with his wife's medical emergency.
It is being stated that BJP president Amit Shah has sent Gadkari for this purpose in view of the negative media coverage that Raje has been exposed to in the last week.
Gadkari is also expected to lay the foundation stone for a road project in Jodhpur, as per television reports.
Three days ago, the Rajasthan unit of the BJP held a meeting for preparations of upcoming elections in 129 local bodies in August and asked the partymen to work for the party's victory in the state. It was then being projected as a show of strength by Raje, and a message to the BJP top brass in New Delhi.
The meeting was chaired by state BJP president Ashok Parnami was attended by MLAs, MPs and other leaders related with the 129 local bodies.
