A close vigil was kept by the police at key installations in the national capital in the wake of the Paris terror strike even as Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Sunday reviewed the security arrangements at a meeting attended by top officials.

Security was stepped up in the diplomatic enclave here, especially outside the Embassy of France in Chanakyapuri, and at both international and domestic terminals of IGI Airport, all railway stations and bus terminuses, said a senior police official.

"We are on alert and have taken adequate measures to deal with any emergency," said the official, adding that the Special Cell -- the counter-terrorism unit of Delhi Police -- and Crime Branch were kept in the loop.

Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said that the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung reviewed the security arrangements in the city this morning.

A tight vigil was maintained by the police around prominent hotels, shopping malls, markets and other crowded places in the city.

Patrolling was stepped up and additional deployment made at sensitive spots besides keeping ready Quick Reaction Teams, said Bhagat.

The arrangements also include activating the eyes-and-ears scheme of the police, intensifying picket duty at borders and ensuring adequate anti-terror measures as per standards.

Special security and traffic arrangements have already been made in view of International Trade Fair being held at Pragati Maidan here, he said.

In July this year, the Special Cell had registered an FIR against "unknown persons" based on inputs given by intelligence agencies with regard to ISIS.

Today's meeting was attended by Special Commissioners in Delhi Police -- Deepak Mishra (Law and Order), Dharmendra Kumar (Special Unit), Vimla Mehra (Administration), Arvind Deep (Special Cell), Balaji Srivastava (Intelligence), Sundari Nanda (Operations) and Muktesh Chander (Traffic), among others.
