Arguing on behalf of the AP government, senior counsels P P Rao and Venugopal said the Telangana State government had frozen the assets and funds of over 100 institutions making it difficult for the former to run its day to day business.

New Delhi: A two-member bench of the apex court consisting Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice Sivakeerti Singh here on Monday adjourned to December 9 the hearing on the dispute between the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the usage of funds of the erstwhile united state’s Higher Education Council.

The bench, which heard the arguments of the AP government which filed its counter two days ago in this regard, wondered why was the AP government being denied the facility to draw the funds while the Telangana State government was continuing to do so. It also sought to know from the TS lawyers how the Council would pay the salaries to its employees.

Arguing on behalf of the AP government, senior counsels P P Rao and Venugopal said the Telangana State government had frozen the assets and funds of over 100 institutions making it difficult for the former to run its day to day business.

Appearing on behalf of Telangana, senior counsel Kapil Sibal contended that the Telangana State government was only implementing the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act in his regard and not violating any law.
