New Delhi: Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayuth Chan-ocha, touched down in New Delhi on Thursday for a three-day visit aimed at reviewing bilateral relations.
The Thailand Prime Minister was received by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju at the airport.
Prayuth is visiting the country on an invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He is accompanied by his deputy, five senior ministers and a 46 -member business delegation.
After being accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan or President's House on Friday, Prayuth will hold bilateral talks with Modi and then proceed for delegation-level talks.
Boosting maritime ties and enhancing cooperation on combating militancy will be high on the agenda. Discussions on education, science and technology and people-to-people contacts are also expected to take place between the two countries.
Prayuth will also address events organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), both associations of business organisations.
The Thai Prime Minister will also visit Bodh Gaya, a prime Buddhist pilgrimage, before heading back home on Saturday.
It is Prayuth's first visit to India. Former Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra had visited India in January 2012, when she was invited as chief guest for India's Republic Day celebrations.
