Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party today demanded that VHP functionary Radha Krishna Manori should not be allowed to enter Goa, a day after he stated that the saffron outfit could impose a ban on cow slaughter and consumption of beef in the coastal state in the next couple of years.
"AAP demands that the Manohar Parrikar government should act firmly and ban the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Radha Krishna Manori's entry in the state," AAP Goa convenor Valmiki Naik said in a statement issued here. Manori had yesterday said that the saffron body is capable of imposing a total ban on cow slaughter and consumption of beef in Goa in the next couple of years, without the government's help.
"The highly vitriolic public statement of Manori suggesting that private armies of the VHP will take law in their hands to impose a beef ban in Goa is despicable and a grave crime," Naik said, adding that the VHP leader's remarks "attract criminal charges under provisions of the IPC dealing with causing discord among different communities in Goa." "VHP is an affiliate of the BJP; the Chief Minister's will to act (against the VHP leader) is under doubt," Valmiki alleged.
