The announcement of Siva Sena to have no political alliance with BJP in 2019 was almost expected sooner than later. But the opposition parties are restlessly expecting whether Siva Sena would pull down the coalition government between Siva Sena and BJP and if so when? They have also provoked the party to check its temptations. People even have posed the question that when the party announces its decision of no alliance with BJP in 2019 for the laundry list of reasons why the party is not pulling out from the government and go for fresh election.
The well calibrated, matured reply of the party’s spokes person Manisha Kayande was that when they take decisions pertaining to future course of actions, the party is also duty bound to respect the mandate of the people. In the last assembly election, people of Maharastra elected Siva Sena and BJP to rule the state and they have shown the door for NCP and INC. So the party is bound to respect the mandate and expectations of the people of the state and is not interested in playing politics of ego.
Only very few political parties in India have shown such clarity, wisdom, maturity and statesmanship. Every party must follow the path of Siva Sena in discharging their duties to people of the country. Unfortunately most leaders and parties would contest election as coalition partners and citing some frivolous political reasons would pull down the government and then re-align with other parties in future. But Siva Sena stood with its responsibility to people of Maharastra that the party cannot betray the mandate of the people.
This country has witnessed how the ego politics can destroy our progress and the best example being how Vajpayee government was pulled down by AIADMK by a single vote.
Siva sena as a political party has taken the political decision and it has the right to do so. But the party does not want the state to pay for its political decisions and instead it want to tell the people that the party would fulfill its mandate but in future it would not align with BJP.
Some political analyst may call it as opportunistic ploy but the example Siva Sena has set has great implications and certainly people of the country will appreciate the party for such maturity and responsibility.
Political difference and political aggression between the coalition parties is quite normal especially when the proportion such arrangement in arithmetic term is unequal. In that respect Siva Sena is a regional party whereas BJP is an all India party. However such proportionality of size of the major party should not assumed as it is licensed to subject the junior party to ill treatment or make it feel less significant.
The gesture of Siva Sena must bee seen in the right spirit by BJP and it should not be seen as weakness. For the last several decades, people of the state have recognized the common goal and interest of both these parties while recognizing also their core differences.
Therefore in the interest of Maharastra, necessary steps should be taken to reconcile the differences. When the heart and the liver in our body fight, the beneficiary would be various pathogens, and certainly even the less significant microbe also may get an easy entry into our system.
‘New Delhi Superbug’ is already waiting for a chance to infect Maharastra which both Siva Sena and BJP should not allow. Both these parties have responsibility to keep the state free of pathogens.
