  • The Congress and the JD(S) teamed up last minute with JD(S) grabbing the post of the Chief Minister while the Congress of the Deputy Chief Minister. Karnataka Congress chief G Parameswara is among the likely candidates for the post.
  • Following the temple run to Holenarasipura in Haasan district, Kumaraswamy will hold separate meetings with Rahul Gandhi and then Sonia Gandhi in Delhi today.
  • He is likely to take oath alone while the floor test is expected to follow within 24 hours. After the trust vote, the est of his cabinet are likely to be sworn in.
  • Until the trust vote, the Congress and the JD(S) MLAs will be confined to their hotels- Hotel Hilton on the road to Bengaluru airport, Embassy Golf Links and Prestige Resorts in Devanahalli in the outskirts of Bengaluru respectively.
  • Congress is expected to get a major share of the ministries after winning 78 seats in comparison to Mr Kumaraswamy's party's 38.
  • A detailed Common Minimum Programme is being planned by both the parties to chalk out a governance roadmap and also form a committee to steer the alliance.
  • With the BJP getting invited to form the government as single largest party despite being seven seats short of a majority in the 224-seat assembly, Governor Vajubhai Vala faced criticism and was challenged by the Congress in the Supreme court following which Mr Yeddyurappa stepped down and the trust vote did not take place.
  • Mr Kumaraswamy's oath ceremony is likely to witness Chief Ministers of four states -- Andhra Pradesh's N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana's K Chandrashekar Rao, Bengal's Mamata Banerjee and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal along with leaders of 11 opposition parties.
  • The huge gathering for the ceremony is said to help the Opposition’s move forward to take on the BJP in the next year's general elections.
