Three men were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing domestic help, police said on Thursday

New Delhi: Three men were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing domestic help, police said on Thursday.

They were identified as Shabuddin, Sirajul and Rajni Tete, they said. According to a complainant, he had approached an agency to hire a help when the accused reached his home on September 12.

They fixed the salary of Rs 5,000 per month and charged commission of Rs 20,000.

"Shahabuddin took the money after completing the paperwork and left the place. The domestic help also left the house without informing anyone on Saturday.

The complainant tried to contact the placement agent and filed a complaint when he was unable to reach them," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj said.

After receiving the complaint, the police asked the victim to make a call to the same placement agency from other number and enquire about requirement of a help. The placement agency agreed to provide a maid.

The complainant asked him to meet at the Ramesh Nagar Metro Station where a police team arrested him.

"During interrogation, it was revealed that Shabudin Mola, a resident of West Bengal, is the mastermind of the gang.

The accused used to make fake advertisements on Just Dial or Quicker and whenever any customers contacted them, they used the same modus operandi to cheat them," Bhardwaj added.
