Rama Navami: Lord Rama supreme because of his deeds

Lord Sri Rama is said to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu ,he is worshipped not only for this reason,but for the deeeds he did in his lifetime. Supreme human being-born to king dashratha and queen kausalya on chaitra masa suklapaksha navami(10th january 5114 bc),which is celeberated as ‘sri ram navami’ all over india.it is also celebrated as the wedding anniverssary of lord Sri Rama and his consort sita in south india,whereas the marriage is celebrated in mithila and ayodhya during another day on vivaha panchami as per valmiki ramayana. In valmiki ramayana ,it is said that lord rama came to be known as ‘Sri Rama’ after his marriage with sita devi-‘sri’ meanining –‘sita sahithudu’-along with sita devi. The way in which milk and its sweetness are inseparable,god and goddess(shakti) are one.

On ‘Sri Ram Navami’celebrating Sita Rama Kalyanam is not only to visualize the amazing rituals where every ritual has a specific meaning ,fillled with purity,but also to recollect the great deeds of lord rama-his values ,his principles.the respect lord rama gave to his father can be clearly seen as narrated in the valmiki ramayana that when king janaka offeered his daughter’s hand to lord rama when lord rama suceesfully archered the shiv dhanasu,he(lord rama) would accept his daughter’s hand only with the consent of his father.lord rama’s marriage took place in the presence of both the elders in their families,with utmost respect given by king dashratha to king janaka. The love and respect between the brothers ram, laxman, bharat and shatrughan as narrated in the valmiki ramayana was,is,and will be ideal for the coming generations-a path which will always lead to harmony,love,in ones own family along with the entire human race.

Sita Devi, daughter of king janaka,is said to be incarnation of laksmi devi. Sita Devi told in ayodhyakahand that she came out as a girl and stood in front of king janaka when he was ploughing field for conducting a yajna.sita devi blessed king janaka to be her father ,hence she was called janiki.the reason for king janaka to put forward the condition that whoever archers the shiv dhanasu will be the one who will marry sita devi,was not his inability to choose the right groom for sita devi.but because he knew that shiv dhanasu can be archered only by god’s incarnation and this will lead to the unision of sita devi(shakti) with lord rama.whenever god takes incarnation on earth,goddess also come s down to earth .kalyanam always takes place in the name of goddess- like sita kalyanam,rukumani kalyanam,parvati kalyanam.the unision of god with goddess(shakti) completes the meaning of incarnation taken by them to destroy the evil and let humanity prevail.
