Konda Lakshman Bapuji Remembered on his 99th Birth Anniversary. Konda Lakshman Bapuji, more aptly known as the Father of Telangana was born on the same day in 1915 at Wankidi village in Adilabad district of erstwhile Hyderabad State in Padmashali community.

Konda Lakshman Bapuji, more aptly known as the Father of Telangana was born on the same day in 1915 at Wankidi village in Adilabad district of erstwhile Hyderabad State in Padmashali community. He was a great freedom fighter who participated in the Telangana upheaval. During freedom struggle Konda Lakshman Bapuji participated in the Quit India movement in 1942. He was a keep role player in the Non-Mulki agitation that took place in 1952 and in the first phase of Telangana Agitation in 1969. He was the first minister to resign from his post for Telangana cause in 1969.

Apart from all these, in order to get recognition for the weaver’s community, he established Akhila Bharat Padmashali Sangam in Hyderabad.

Unlike most of the other leaders from Telangana, Konda Lakshman Bapuji had the courage to sacrifice and remained out of power for four decades for the very cause of achieving statehood for Telangana.
