Can we allow higher education and university system in India to collapse due to few chronic pessimists, terror apologists, casteists, anti-Hindutva, anti-Indian, anti-development forces, whose agenda clearly seems to be aimed at destabilising this nation? Indian youth must be cautious, responsible and guarded against these forces which can come in contact with them in many forms. Infamous professors, social activists, student mentors & guides, student union leaders, politicians, casteist leaders, peer groups are few regular forms for these parasites

We all are proud of India’s demographic dividend. India has the largest number of youth in the world. I wonder, should we take pride in just the quantity or quality of our youth? Are misdirected youth an asset or a liability to a family, a society or a nation?

Recently JNU student union facilitated a commemoration day to Afzal Guru, the terrorist who had been hanged to death, after a full length trial by India’s apex court, Supreme Court of India.

The students iconised this terrorist through posters, placards and eulogised him through speeches & slogans. In the same breath, they also made fiery anti–India speeches, took pledge to balkanise and attack the idea of India; they also threatened the majority religion and the Indian government.

All this in broad day light, on Indian soil and on the campus of one of the most revered universities in India, JNU. This is not an isolated, first time incident of this nature. It’s happening across the country in universities there’s a pattern and clear-cut objectives to it. To destabilise India, attack the majority religion, and destroy Indian culture seem to be the objectives.

Politicisation of University of Hyderabad student suicide, kiss of love campaign, FTII strike, beef parties and protests at RSS headquarters are some of the key drivers of the appalling agenda of these forces. This trend and activity is on the rise after the BJP came to power at the Centre 20 months ago.

At the event, the young Indians, most of them in late 20’s, pursuing higher studies at university level, at one of the most prestigious universities, and most of them on fat government scholarships & subsidies, have turned pro-terrorist, pro-balkanisation, anti-establishment & anti-India. How & why?

What shall we call this evolution of some young men and women of this great nation, which is making great strides the world over as an emerging global power, not just by being the fastest growing economy but also culturally & politically? It looks quite like a classic case of regression and full-scale negative conditioning of young minds.

Who’s brainwashing and conditioning these youngsters with anti-India doctrine? Is it few unscrupulous professors, anti-social elements, anti-India traitors, or secessionists? Are they catching these students young to turn universities of India into cesspools of anti India activity? These are the questions every Indian must ask and seek answers.

Can we allow higher education and university system in India to collapse due to few chronic pessimists, terror apologists, casteists, anti-Hindutva, anti-Indian, anti-development forces, whose agenda clearly seems to be aimed at destabilising this nation?

We shouldn’t be surprised if our enemy state is partnering and sponsoring this massive enterprise, unfortunately driven by our own nationals and self-styled pseudo intellectuals, who are currently parasites on the Indian higher education system.

The Indian government through its enforcement agencies must take swift, strong & decisive action against these disruptive, divisive forces. This trend of anti-nationalism, if not crushed, will certainly become a fad across the universities in this country.

University administration cannot act as mute spectators to this increasing menace by both ill-intentioned professors and misguided students. They must act with strength to ensure any anti-institutional, anti-national activity under any guise on campuses is detected, investigated, and the conspirators and executors punished under university provisions.

There needs to be swift & stern action to ensure deterrence for unacceptable behavior on university campuses. It’s downright unprofessional for a Vice-Chancellor and the administration body to wait till a complaint is filed or till enforcement agencies step in to handle these issues. University administration’s incompetence or collusion is the key reason for the explosion of anti-national activities across Indian universities.

There’s a larger design to destabilise this great nation by using its own strength as a threat. The cowardly, rogue forces which cannot fight real battles against India are trying to use some fragile, conditionable youth against their own nation to create unrest.

Indian youth must be cautious, responsible and guarded against these forces which can come in contact with them in many forms. Infamous professors, social activists, student mentors & guides, student union leaders, politicians, casteist leaders, peer groups are few regular forms for these parasites.

The demographic dividend outcomes of this nation will only be as great as the quality of Indian youth. There’s a huge urgency for nationalism, patriotism, culture, knowledge, brotherhood, positivity, enterprise & leadership to take front seat in higher education at our universities. Regressed & misguided youth are a liability to themselves, their family, society & this nation. (The writer is a BJP spokesperson)
