Modi on BJP centrestage

Hindutva icon Narendra Modi has moved on to BJP national centrestage � clearly emerging as the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, an official announcement being a mere formality. When asked whether the party is fully backing Modi, pat came the reply from a senior leader, requesting anonymity, "In the BJP National Council, the dais was being dictated by the audience. I think there is little or no choice left for the party." He virtually declared it was a fait accompli for the party. The BJP feels Modi can fire the imagination of the cadres, which is why the party is rallying behind him. Logically, Modi used the party stage for raising national pitch. That he is the BJP Prime Ministerial face was clear from the fact it was Modi, who attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress party, while other leaders spoke only on party policies and programmes. Other BJP-ruled State Chief Ministers merely showcased achievements of their respective Governments, like Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh who gave a power point presentation on PDS. Senior leaders confined themselves to party resolutions. No other leader dared to step in to targeting the Congress, as it was seen the primary domain of Modi.
