prasadVikarabad (Rangareddy): Minister for Handlooms and Textiles G Prasad Kumar, paying rich tributes to the Babasaheb Ambedkar, said here on Sunday that Ambedkar was not only Guru for Dalits but Guru for all Indians. "He did not confine himself to any particular caste while preparing the Constitution," he added. The minister was the chief guest at the 123rd birthday celebrations of Babasaheb Ambedkar here. He said here that the government had allocated Rs. 12,000 crore under SC, ST sub plan and these funds would be utilized for the development of scheduled castes and tribes only. For the first time in the country, the State government had introduced the sub plan, he said. Former minister and TRS politburo member Dr A Chandrasekhar said that Ambedkar was instrumental in providing equal status for women in the Constitution. He said that non-Dalits have also played an important role in eradicating untouchability taking inspiration from Ambedkar.A He regretted that though the government had been spending huge amounts for the welfare of dalits by establishing welfare hostels, fifty per cent of Dalits have yet to receive education. Sub Collector Amrapali, singer Jayaraj, YSR Congress leader B Sanjiva Rao, former TTD member Kale Yadaiah, Satyanarayana, Raghavan Naik, Basvaraj, C Anantaiah, Krishnaprasad, T Anandam, Jagadish, Rameswar,M Ramulu, Vikarabad tahsildar Bal Reddy and others werepresent.

Medak: Minister for Heavy Industries J Gita Reddy paid rich tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar in connection with his 123rd birthday celebrations here on Sunday. She said that the Congress government was committed for the uplift of Dalits and the downtrodden. She said that SC, ST sub plan was a historical one. The Minister said that the chief minister would introduce another scheme to send Dalit students abroad for higher studies. District Collector Dinakar Babu, Joint Collector Sarath, Sangareddy MLA Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy and others were present.
