Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi has accepted Swami Vivekananda as an exemplaryipersonality, recalled Swami Raghunayakananda, head of publications, Ramakrishna Mission. After inaugurating the statue of Swami Vivekananda under the aegis of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Samiti and the reception committee of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th year of Chicago speech and flagging off the ‘Run for the Nation’ programme here on Wednesday, Swami Raghunayakananda said that September 11 was an important day for the Indians.

After inaugurating the statue of Swami Vivekananda under the aegis of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Samiti and the reception committee of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th year of Chicago speech and flagging off the ‘Run for the Nation’ programme here on Wednesday, Swami Raghunayakananda said that September 11 was an important day for the Indians.
He recalled that Swami Vivekananda addressed the World Religion Congress on the same day at Chicago. “Swami Vivekananda exhorted the youth to be confident and be responsible for the future of the nation,” he said.
Instead of complaining about the corruption around us, we must question ourselves whether we are part of it or not, he remarked.
According to a survey, 45 per cent of the software engineers are the indiscipline lot, he pointed out. He held the deficiencies in the family and the school they studied responsible for the shortcomings among the youth. Minister for Handlooms and Textiles G Prasad Kumar appealed to the youth to respect their family members. He said that the youth should follow in the steps of that Swami Vivekananda. He suggested to the youth to study hard to achieve greater heights in life. The state government had established model schools, intermediate English medium colleges on par with the corporate colleges and schools. He appealed to the youth to directly contact him if they find any problem.
K Ramachandra Murthy, Editor-in-Chief of the Hans India and HMTV lauded Swami Vivekananda for spreading of the message of Hinduism all over world. Swami Vivekananda underlined the role of youth in building the nation, he recalled.
The dream of Swami Vivekananda would be realised when the inequalities, corruption, untouchability were driven out from the society. He exhorted youth to take a cue from the life of Swami Vivekananda in their life.
Nrupendra Rao, chairman of Pennar Industries, said that they would take up the installation of more statues of Swami Vivekananda. Market committee chairmen L Sasank Reddy, Pratap Reddy, MPDO Vinay Kumar, advocate Kolukunda Santosh Kumar, Madhav Reddy, Satyanarayana Reddy, Jayadev, Balakrishna, Dr Anand, BJP district secretary Shivraj, Congress leaders V Satyanarayana, Narsimhulu, Anant Reddy, Sudhakar Reddy, sarpanch Narsimhulu and others were present.
Hyderabad: Thousands of students from various colleges across the city came together here on Wednesday to celebrate the speech given by Swami Vivekanada at the World Parliament of Religions, in 1893 at Chicago. The celebrations were organised by the Swami Vivekananda 150th Jayanthi Utsav Samiti, Hyderabad. As part of the celebrations the participants took part in a run titled, ‘Run for the Nation’ from Lumbini Park to People’s Plaza, Necklace Road. Originally the run was meant to take place from Nizam College Grounds but due to the lack of police permission, the run was short-handed to take place from Lumbini Park.
Apart from students there were people from different walks of life who participated in the run. The run culminated at People’s Plaza. T Tirupati Rao, former Vice- Chancellor, JNTU, Ele Shyam Kumar, State Chief RSS, Kishan Reddy, BJP, MLA-Amberpet, S M Arif, Swami JnanaBodhamayananda and a few others address the youth. Speaking at the event the RSS chief expressed his displeasure over the police refusal to grant permission for this run.
S M Arif appreciated the efforts taken by the students to celebrate one of India’s greatest orators and his orations.
Swami Jnana Bodhamayananda, exclaimed that in 1893 when Vivekananda began his speech he said “Brothers and Sisters of America”, that one statement itself brought him tremendous applause. That was how great the power of his speech was.
Also present for the run was Bandaru Dattatreya, former Union Minister. IN Tandur, MLA Mahendar Reddy flagged off the ‘Run for the Nation’ and even participated in it as part of the celebrations. Former municipal chairman Nagaram Narsimhulu, BJPM, TRS, TDP leaders were present. Sizable number of youth participated in the run.
In Nalgonda, former joint director of CBI, VV Lakshminarayana exhorted the youth to strive hard for the development of the nation. He paid floral tributes to the statue of Swami Vivekananda on Hyderabad road. Earlier, he flagged off the Run for Nation from the NG College. Later addressing the youth, the IPS officer said that people would never forget the Chicago meeting addressed by Swami Vivekananda.
At Gadwal, Minister D K Aruna exhorted people to strive hard for fulfilling the dream of Swami Vivekananda. She was the chief guest at the 150th year celebrations of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago speech here on Wednesday. At Mahbubnagar, ABVP national president Murali Manohar said that every youth in the country was eager to follow the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda. He flagged off the Run for Nation at Mettugadda in which district collector Girija Shankar, SP Nagendra Kumar and several political leaders, students participated.
