Vijayawada: The ruling Congress legislator from Pedana, Jogi Ramesh, here on Monday, justified his action of voting against the government during the no confidence motion. He said he was hurt by the way the Congress leaders were allowing the Opposition to target and criticise late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in the Assembly. He said that the Congress had come to power in the State twice under the leadership of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. The power being enjoyed by the Congress leaders in the State and at the Centre today was due to the hard work of the late leader, he said and asserted that the leaders have the obligation to protect the reputation of the late leader. The Congress leaders have forgotten this responsibility and were allowing the Opposition to target the late leader, which had pained him and made him to vote against the government, he said. He said he had taken the decision after watching the proceedings of the Assembly. People in his constituency understood his intentions and extended support to him, he claimed.A He said that he had already held discussions with the people of his constituency and explained to them in detail the reasons behind his decision to vote against the government. He asserted that the YSR Congress Party would win majority Assembly seats in the next elections and would form the government. He also expressed confidence that only the YSR Congress Party government would be able to implement the welfare programmes of late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
