New Delhi: Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Shashank Manohar has lashed out at the re-elected president N Srinivasan, saying that the India Cements boss should not hold office in light of the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal that has blemished the image of Indian cricket.
Manohar confirmed that many BCCI members, including Jagmohan Dalmiya, had asked him to contest elections at the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) - said: "Srinivasan has no right to continue as president. If you had the slightest of conscience, self-esteem and care for the board, you ought to have put in your papers the moment your son-in-law [Gurunath Meiyappan] was arrested [for betting in IPL]. You did nothing and, as a result, the board's reputation has taken a hit to the extent that the people have lost faith in this board."
