Dope cases ruins future of Indian Weightlifting Federation

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has informed that there is no threat of suspension of the Indian Weightlifting Federation
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has informed that there is no threat of suspension of the Indian Weightlifting Federation by the World Body after two dope positive cases were reported during the 2015 Commonwealth Championship at Pune in October, 2015. He said, the two Indian weightlifters tested positive for dope are serving provisional suspension imposed by the International Weightlifting Federation. An enquiry committee has been constituted by Indian Weightlifting Federation to look into the matter.
Government has already set up the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), which functions independently in accordance with rules and regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today the Minister said, NADA deals with matters relating to awareness about doping in sports including dissemination of information, educating sportspersons, coaches and support personnel on the ill effects of doping through teaching sessions/seminars/workshops.
