State Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday inaugurated the Hyderabad Sailing Week -2016 Multiclass Sailing Championship, under the joint aegis of EME Sailing Association, Secunderabad Sailing Club and Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) at Secunderabad Club Sailing Annex.

Hyderabad: State Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday inaugurated the Hyderabad Sailing Week -2016 Multiclass Sailing Championship, under the joint aegis of EME Sailing Association, Secunderabad Sailing Club and Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) at Secunderabad Club Sailing Annex.

“Sailing is one of the toughest sports. It needs skill, physical fitness, courage, confidence and determination to brave the odds, fluctuating weather conditions to survive the competition” he said.

Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, GOC-in-C, Southern Command, said “It is indeed encouraging to see a large number of budding sailors turning up for the event. We expect some of them to graduate to the next level and win international honours.”

Lt Gen Gurmukh Singh, President. LCAI said “Over the years, sailing has received a tremendous boost in the country in general and Hyderabad in particular.” Major General Sanjeev Khanna said. “A total of 204 sailors, including 21 women, are participating in the seven events that start on Tuesday.”
