Hyderabad: If Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has its way, then one can hope to see quality spinners emerging from the nooks and corners of the region.

Intending to revive the glory days of the past by knitting a combination of specialists, HCA is all set to unveil a spin-centric academy at Gymkhana Ground here in the next week or so.

Announcing the ambitiously chalked out academy, Director of Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence (HCAE), M V Narasimha Rao and HCA President and Secretary, Arshad Ayub and John Manoj said here on Saturday that former India match-winners N Shivlal Yadav and L Venkatapathi Raju were keen on coming on board.

They said that they would scout for spinners, especially those emerging in the Under-16 category.Stating that Hyderabad had always boasted of quality spinners, Rao said that some from the current crop, particularly in the Under-19 and 23 age-group held immense promise.

The Academy, which will be hiring proven performers as coaches, would fine-tune the available talent. Those who display consistency can knock on the Ranji Trophy doors, sooner than later.

Coming up against an estimated budget of Rs 1.5 crore, the proposal is to handpick at least 30 of the most talented and put them in a camp. Equal focus would be on bowlers from the interiors and districts, Ayub said.
