Dr Nandini, a retired NGRI scientistChoutuppal (Nalgonda): About 80 scientists from 40 countries are attending a four-day international workshop since Monday under the auspices of the CSIR-NGRI at it laboratory in Mandollagudem in Choutuppal mandal of Nalgonda district.

The International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronamy is holding the event during which geo-magnetic studies are being conducted by the participants. New magneto-meters from Germany and Denmark have been arranged in the NGRI lab. Special pillars have been erected for the benefit of scientists to conduct their experiments/studies. Among those taking part are scientists from laboratories across the globe which conduct geo-magnetic experiments. The scientific sessions of the workshop will be held in NGRI, Uppal (Hyderabad) from October 13 to 16. A German scientist H J Lengde, Dr. Nandini, a retired NGRI scientist, and Dr. Kusimita Arora, the workshop in-charge, told the media on Tuesday that the experiments being conducted by scientists during the workshop would help in the prevention of disasters, like cyclones. They would also help in unearthing minerals and oil wealth lying in seas, which would go a long way in the sustenance of human life.
