MUMBAI: LenDen – a mobile marketplace – having its operations in United States and Middle-East, has forayed into the Indian market by unveiling it’s free mobile application for Android and iOS users. It will cater to the burgeoing internet population in India, which is expected to reach 300 million by end of this year.

Founded by Unni Peroth, Raju Jayanthan and Rohit R K, LenDen is a mobile marketplace to exchange, sell or buy items within the same category or different ones within the locality. It helps locate the seller on the map, connect through a chat window and strike a deal. The USP of LenDen is that it enables exchange, buy, sell and donate functions on the same platform. “India is poised to become a large mobile internet market with smartphones and tablets driving the next wave of growth in Internet consumption. We are excited to release this new universal app to address the booming Android and iOS market. And with the launch of mobile apps for Android and iOS now will our focus on providing Indian internet users the best classifieds experience anytime and anywhere,” said Rohit R K, COO, LenDen.

The major categories in the app include games, toys, arts and crafts, movies and music, books, automobiles, mobiles and tablets, electronics and computers, home appliance, furniture, jewellery, clothing and accessories, sports and health and tools and accessories.

According to Rohit, LenDen is focusing on India as the country is a reflection of the globalised world with its multi linguistic, multi-cultural and diverse ethnicity. Whereas, the second-hand market in India has a huge potential and is still not fully tapped. “A recent report has pegged the market for second-hand and recycled goods at Rs 80,000 crore, which is expected to increase to Rs 1,15,000 crore by the end of 2015. A better purchasing power of the middle-class as well as brand-buybacks with attractive incentives and exchange schemes may be a few reasons that can be attributed to this huge spurt in the second-hand market,” he added.

With increasing Mobile transactions, it becomes important that the buyers have the option of meeting the sellers via a mobile device and vice-a-versa. Using the LenDen app makes it easy to post an ad with the option of even uploading pictures, videos and description right from the device. Even searching is more convenient and relevant as buyers can search for ads in their locality or in a particular location using GPS to depict all the ads around them on a map. Being an universal app, users only need to download one app and it works on both opertaing systems – Android and iOS.

Mobile apps are a more convenient, faster and personalised way to enhance the user’s experience of accessing the site on the go. With a dedicated app, it would be possible to enhance Android and iOS users experience and strengthen the market share further. The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
