BENGALURU: Your hiring quotient and salary structure both will be a rise, if you can verse the new age tech skills reports Shilpa Fadnis of TOI.

New Age Tech skills imply R, Julia, Hadoop, Scrum Master and DevOps that companies now expect the applicants to have idea about. After learning the programming language R, used in deriving insights from data in statistical computing, a fresher can bag a job with package of 8 lakh per annum, confirmed by Simplilearn, a web based education provider for professional courses. In comparison a regular IT fresher is offered only 3.5lakh.

R, Sachin Gupta, Co-founder of online programming platform HackerEarth said, "Its libraries in statistics and mathematics give a lot of power to data scientists to quickly manipulate data. Julia, who started as a scientific computing language, is gaining traction in the data sciences domain. Python, a programming language for data sciences, continues to be the language of choice after R because of its versatility."

Gupta also mentions about full-stack developers, the supercoders who have knowledge about database programming, like HTML, JavaScript and experience in cloud deployment solutions like AWS.

Applicants with knowledge on any mobile app developer or Hadoop can earn an equivalent salary. It’s not about being fresher or experienced in the industry, knowing these skills can raise scope to bar salary package.

This also reflects the changing trend of technology in IT space. The change has been driven by the upsurge in use of mobile devices, the emergence of big data, the analysis of this data and the resultant cloud computing. Also, noteworthy is the growth in internet of things (IoT) through which electronic appliances like toaster, fridge, light fitting or machines covey their status to user through smartphones.

Chief product officer Kashyap Dalal of Bengaluru-based Simplilearn comments, "These are deep technology shifts changing the game for businesses. Five years ago, Java, C++ was sought-after skills, but IT companies are today looking at diversity in their tech talent pool to improve business conversation with their customers."

Dalal adds that a Hadoop skill can fetch a developer 25pct higher pay than only Java skill set. An iOS developer receives better compensation than Android developer, essentially due to its short circulation. Gupta's data reveals that the salary range for an iOS developer with 2-4 years of experience is between Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, while an Android developer gets around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh.
