Hyderabad: Plea to Centre on Railway Projects
In a letter to the Railway Minister, he said, ”There has been considerable injustice and discrimination against South Central Railway (SCR) over the years on the issues pertaining to the execution of various railway projects such as the factories manufacturing spare parts, laying of new railway lines, doubling of the same electrification and new trains.”

According to the MP, the SCR has a host of projects which have been in the pipeline for years due to lack of allocation of funds. There is also a demand for introduction of new trains and railway lines and improving amenities at the Railway Stations. “As a former Minister of State for Railways, I am aware that the SCR is one of the most profit making zones of Indian Railways. Despite this, the allocations to the zone are very meager,” he explained. Dattatreya asked Sadananda Gowda to focus attention on Secunderabad – Kazipet third line, Electrification of Secunderabad – Nagapur line and completion of Karimnagar-Hasanparthy (62 Km) railway line project.

It may be noted that if the third line from Secunderabad to Kazipet is laid, then the journey from Secunderabad to New Delhi will become more convenient. If the Secunderabad – Bangalore and Secunderabad - Nizamabad, Adilabad – Nagpur is electrified there will be an alternative line to New Delhi connecting the South and North India then the burden over Kazipet – New Delhi line can be reduced.

Among other proposals Dattatreya made were -- commencement of Hyderabad MMTS Phase-II, establishing a coach factory at Kazipet, release of funds for completion of pending projects like road over bridges at Tukaram Gate and others. The BJP leader also urged to consider introduction of Bullet trains between Hyderabad and Delhi and Hyderabad to Bikaner, a super fast train between Hyderabad and Madurai via Tirupati and Coimbatore, another super-fast train starting from Secunderabad to Bangalore and several other intercity express trains.
