Addressing the TJAC’s maha dharna at Indira Park, Kodandaram urged the Centre not to keep the issue boiling by its unilateral decision. He said the TJAC would stage dharna in New Delhi on July 14.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) MLA Sunnam Rajaiah lashed out at the Centre for not even bothering about Fifth Schedule which mandates consent of tribals and gram sabhas for any development activity. Environmental clearance for this contentious project was also ignored, he fumed.

Faulting the BJP-led NDA government for toeing previous UPA government’s line, leaders said the voters taught a fitting lesson to the Congress for ignoring tribal community.

The BJP leadership had not realised this and was bent on making the same mistake, they said. TJAC leaders Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, C Vittal, K Raghu among others took part in the maha dharna. Leaders from all political parties in Telangana participated in the dharna.
