Kamareddy (Nizamabad): A Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) councilor Bhoom Reddy was injured in a clash between the Congress and the TRS members in the Kamareddy Municipal Standing Committee meeting on Saturday.

Councillors of the rival parties hurled chairs against one another leading to a pandemonium and adjournment of the meeting for half an hour by chairperson Sushma. The TRS supporters held protest, demanding arrest of Vice-Chairman Masood. They also raised slogans against the police.

The row, which continued for about an hour, escalated after the TRS councilors tried to gate-crash into a guest house where their Congress counterparts were staying. The police blocked them. This led to a protest by TRS supporters who alleged that the police were supporting the Congress party.

Trouble arose once again after the police tried to take Masood to the police station in his own car and not in their jeep. The TRS activists smashed the car’s window panes, leading to a free-for-all involving the supporters of the rival parties. The police dispersed the clashing groups. Peace was restored after Masood was moved to the police station.
