Hyderabad: World-class roads up to a length of 1,000 km at an investment of Rs 10,000 crore, two corridors connecting four corners of Hyderabad and four lakh LED street lights were some of the major announcements made on Friday by Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking at the inauguration of Hyderabad Property Show organised by Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI), KCR announced a series of measures to develop the city as the best destination for business and industry. He said the technology for the roads would be better than the ones used in cities like New York and London.
Fresh from his visit to Singapore and Malaysia, the Chief Minister said roads to a length of 500 km would be completed in two years and the remaining 50 per cent would be done in another two years.
In a move to ease congestion, he said, an east-west four-lane corridor (skyway) would be developed between Vanasthalipuram and Ramachandrapuram. “Similarly a corridor will be developed between north and south,” he said adding while opposing the proposal mooted by officials for construction of 25 flyovers.
The pink party chief announced that 1,500 major and medium rain water drains would be developed or restored to permanently solve the problem of flooding of roads and residential colonies during rainy season. He termed stagnation of rain water on roads as a shame on administration.
“Four lakh LED lights will replace the existing street lights in the city. Another outer ring road will be developed in addition to the existing one with satellite townships and specialised clusters like pharma city, sports city, health city and cinema city,” he informed. He further added a new international airport would also be planned at Shameerpet on the city outskirts.
He vowed to make Hyderabad the best place for the industry with single window clearance system, which he said would be zero-graft and the best in the world.
Announcing that a legislation in this regard would be passed in coming session of the Assembly, he said once the single window clearance becomes a reality, industries would run to Hyderabad.
Announcing sops to realty sector, he promised a single window system to give all clearances for the projects, saying the existing system of obtaining 40 no-objection certificates from different departments was for only for taking bribes from developers.
KCR announced withdrawal of Non-Agricultural Land Assessment (NALA) tax imposed on real estate firms and also promised to do away with rules like mandatory permission from civil aviation ministry for each building.
